Embrapa's statute has instituted a Fiscal Council consisting of three sitting members. It is a higher administration body and its attributions include:

1. monitor Embrapa's asset, financial, and budget expenditure, with powers to inspect books or any other documents and request information;
2. oversee the actions of managers and verify their compliance with their legal and statutory duties;
3. monthly analyze the balance sheet and other financial statements prepared by the Corporation;
4. give an opinion on the annual administrative report and on proposals to change the social capital.
