Major contributions for Brazilian agriculture

Science to transform life

Agricultural research results and positive impacts on the economy, the environment and on consumers' tables

Producing food is an activity that is rich in science and technology, but this is not always visible for the population. Agricultural research generates knowledge and technological assets that are transformed into innovation when they are materialized in the practice of agriculture, as products used by the market or consumed by citizens. The research partnership with sectors of the private initiative facilitates the application of the technologies offered by agricultural science and Embrapa has attempted to broaden such alliances.

Here you will find a significant part of the work by Embrapa and partners. They are technological solutions that have been fully incorporated by the agricultural production sector or the market, with impact measured as direct and indirect benefits to society. Browse through the topics below and learn more about how the technologies presented here have positive impact in the life of Brazilians.

Social Report

The Social Report is an annual publication by Embrapa that presents some of the main results achieved by the Corporation in the previous year. This is done by surveying the social actions carried out; success stories; the awards and recognitions it received; and the economic, social, environmental and institutional impacts of technological solutions that were generated and adopted by society. The information about their adoption and impact is organized into the following areas: agrosilvipastoral management and soil correction; fibers, oilseeds and cereals; animal production; fruits and nuts; vegetables and legumes; systems and services; cultivars and job generation. Based on the economic impacts of this sample of technological solutions, the social profit returned by the Corporation to Brazilian society is calculated.
