In partnership with the private sector, Embrapa has launched the first commercial product registered for Brachiaria grasses, Azototal, a new technology with an exclusive formula that enhances the association of microorganisms with plants. It contains the strains Ab-V5 and Ab-V6 of Azospirillum brasilense and is a new option of inoculant with plant growth-promoting bacteria. When applied to seeds, Azototal produces phytohormones that mainly result in considerable increases in the root biomass. The inoculant also facilitates the fixation of nitrogen from the atmosphere, partially meeting the plants’ requirement of the nutrient. In addition to savings in nitrogen fertilizers through the inoculation with Azospirillum, the product also contributes to the balance of the environment. Technology developed by Embrapa in partnership with Total Biotechnology. Always consult an Agricultural Engineer.
